First ever Laptop was a GRiD

It’s hard to compute(r)… but the first ever Laptop was a GRiD!

It was last night’s episode of “The Apprentice” that brought it to our attention again.

The GRiD Compass is on show at the Design Museum in Kensington, London.

The GRiD Compass was built in 1979 and 38 years later we are still producing Rugged Military Computers. Since becoming GRiD Defence Systems Limited in 1993, our focus has been supplying the Defence market place due to our products ability to withstand the harshest environments.

Things have moved on a bit since the GRiD Compass (thankfully) but it’s great to see the world’s first Laptop in its former glory being enjoyed by the public.
